An Investigation into Grassroots Governance in China Based on the Concept of Multi-stakeholder Co-governance——A Case Study of Yunan County, Guangdong Province

Abstract

Based on the concept of multi-stakeholder co-governance, this study discusses the issues of grassroots governance in rural China. Taking the towns and villages of Yunan County in Guangdong Province as an example, through on-site visits and investigations, various problems existing in the governance of remote rural areas in the eastern, western and northern parts of Guangdong are sorted out, such as low cooperation of villagers, weak awareness of environmental protection, insufficient vitality of rural economic organizations, and lack of leading agricultural enterprises. On this basis, the study puts forward optimization strategies such as increasing financial support, giving play to the synergy of the government, banks, enterprises and villages, developing ecological resources, and deepening the reform of the personnel system.
